  •   The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down

    ******************************************************************
Original Lyrics written by J. Robbie Robertson
    ******************************************************************

Virgil Caine is the name and I served on the Danville train
‘Til Stoneman’s cavalry came and tore up the tracks again
In the winter of ’65, we were hungry, just barely alive
By May the tenth, Richmond had fell, it’s a time I remember oh so well

The night they drove Old Dixie down and the bells were ringing
The night they drove Old Dixie down and the people were singin’, they went
       La-la-la  la-la-la,  la-la-la  la-la-la,  la-la-la-la

Back with my wife in Tennessee, when one day she called to me
“Virgil, quick, come see, there goes Robert E. Lee!”
Now I don’t mind choppin’ wood, and I don’t care if the money’s no good
Ya take what ya need and ya leave the rest
But they should never have taken the very best

The night they drove old Dixie down and the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down and all the people were singin’, they went
       Na-na-na  na-na-na,  na-na-na  na-na-na,  na-na-na-na

Like my father before me, I will work the land
And like my brother before me, who took a rebel stand

He was just eighteen, proud and brave
But a Yankee laid him in his grave
I swear by the mud below my feet
You can’t raise a Caine back up when he’s in defeat

The night they drove old Dixie oown and the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down and all the people were singin’, they went
       Na-na-na  na-na-na,  na-na-na  na-na-na,  na-na-na-na

The night they drove old Dixie down and all the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down and the people were singin’, they went
       Na-na-na  na-na-na,  na-na-na  na-na-na,  na-na-na-na

What happened to the tour boat?

Iceberg? Off Ducie Island? Did anybody swim ashore, there must have been 2,000 people?

     ! Aw… Gunslinger…. What’d ya do that for? They were tourists man……

Back to the saga….    Gunslinger’s been around for a long time….. (millenia)  Those weren’t tourists man. You think Gunslinger can’t tell the difference? Fuck you then. This was none other than the work of an age old enemy. They were apparitions! Demons! Shadows in the dark! Lurkers – INTERLOPERS!!

I got every last one of their asses. ALL OF ‘EM! Hung High, You’re next! (Gunslinger points to his head like every other self respecting headhunter before him.) Just wait till our concert HH. I’ll get your ass for damn sure. [ side note here, I think Gunslinger dosen't want you to tell anyone his plan. Especially his mom, who likes and prays for whales (that's how HH, in the form of Moby Dick, got away), and don't tell Angel_of_the_odd. She'd probally be okay, but, she has a tendancy to side with the oddball or the underdog. Remember that odd little fat kid. That was Hung High! He got away by throwing his jelly sandwich to the killer bees. Angel defended him. Don't tell VeryModern! The first thing she sees is all of the violence involved. She'll find someone else to get gunslinger into a spell so he forgets his deranged rage. Sheesh, she got him to want to play BADMITTEN of all things, with everybody. Including Hunghigh himself. DON'T TELL THE 'REGULATORS' OF ALL PEOPLE! They'll kill his ass. He hasn't found their attack dog Barky that gunslinger borrowed. (last thing he knew Barky was a champion whalerider!)

YES - GUNSLINGER SLEW 1,999 SO CALLED DEMONS AS THEY SWAM TO SHORE. ONES MISSING, OR SPARED.

and gunslinger - where did you get all of those GUNS AND AMMO - Gunslinger has an arsenal here on Ducie Island where he's stranded. [Ducie is the Easternmost of the south pacific islands. Nothing beyond it until Easter and Chile.]

Someone dropped a 10 year supply of candy bars (snickers). Gunslinger will survive. Don’t worry. He’s working with those SARS guys and others on the global warming concert coming up. He’s also…. Gunslinger… what’s that violin music?? lATER…
